Government in Action
Youth Tour to Washington D.C.
The deadline for the 2017 contest expired on January 27, 2017.
The theme for this year’s contest was "What would be the biggest challenge you would face without electricity?" Three winning essays were selected by independent judges, and selections were based on originality, knowledge of topic, composition, neatness and grammar.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school were eligible. Participants will meet in Austin and will fly into Washington D.C. in June.
The agenda includes visiting most of the historical memorials and museums, meeting with a member of Congress, and networking with about 1400 students from many other states on Rural Electric Youth day.
