2020 District Meetings

Central Texas Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors has made the decision to cancel some of the cooperatives district meetings and modify the way meetings with board of directors’ elections are handled as a precaution in the fight against COVID-19. 

 

Kendall County - District 1 - CANCELED

No co-op business will be conducted and no bill credits will be issued. 

 

Kerr County - District 2 - CANCELED

No co-op business will be conducted and no bill credits will be issued. 

 

Mason County - District 3 - CANCELED

No co-op business will be conducted and no bill credits will be issued. 

 

Llano County - District 4

District 4 has one open seat on the Board of Directors this year.  However, since there is only one candidate for this seat and co-op bylaws do not allow for nominations from the floor, a vote by ballot is not required at this district meeting.  In accordance with co-op bylaws, a vote by acclamation to nominate the candidate will be taken, and in keeping with the guidelines in effect at the time of this decision, no more than 10 individuals will be present.  No other co-op business will be conducted.  Public attendance at this meeting is not necessary and should be avoided, and no bill credits will be issued. 

SAMUEL SCOTT OLGUIN, DISTRICT 4 CANDIDATE

College attended: Texas Tech University.


Occupation: Managing director, fund manager placement services, Boustead Securities.


Professional licenses: Series 7 (general securities representative), Series 24 (general securities principal) and Series 63
(uniform securities agent state law examination), through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. FINRA is the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States.


Previous employment: Choice Investment, registered representative and head of institutional services; Gray Capital Corporation, founder and president; parent company of Gray Capital Partners, founding partner; Merrill Lynch, registered representative; Dean Witter Reynolds, registered representative.


Past membership and offices held in organizations: Texas State Guard, sergeant; Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation, steering committee member; Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, board of directors.


Current membership and offices held in organizations: Sunrise Beach volunteer fire-fighter and medical first responder; national- and state-registered emergency medical responder; Honor Flight Austin, guardian.

 

 

Gillespie County - District 5

District 5 has one open seat on the Board of Directors this year and two candidates are on the ballot.  In an effort to enforce social distancing, the District 5 member meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Fredericksburg High School will not be held.  Instead,  to allow District 5 members the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice, voting by ballot for this seat on the Board of Directors will take place in the Community Room of the CTEC Headquarters building (386 Friendship Lane, Fredericksburg, TX) on Thursday, June 11, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Please bring your registration card from the May issue of Texas Co-op Power magazine to verify district membership.  Ballots will be tabulated by the Credentials & Election Committee at the conclusion of voting.  No other co-op business will be conducted.  Bill credits will not be issued.

TIM LEHMBERG, DISTRICT 5 CANDIDATE

LYLE JOHANSEN, DISTRICT 5 CANDIDATE

College attended: Texas A&M University.


Occupation: Gillespie County Economic Development Commission, executive director.


Previous employment: Lehmberg Ranch Company, managing partner; Central Texas Salvage & Recycling, president; Nations-Bank of Texas, vice president.


Current membership and offices held in organizations: Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts, secretary and director; Save Our Scenic Hill Country Environment, president and director; Texas Hill Country Heritage Association, director; Hill Country Alliance, advisory director; Lower Colorado River Authority, ambassador; Gillespie County Airport Advisory Board; Gillespie County AgriLife Leadership Advisory Board; City/County Relief Route Task Force; City/County Transportation/Hazard Mitigation Committee; Local Labor Task Force; Mason Community Advocates; ERCOT Regional Planning Group; Harper Community Cham-ber of Commerce; Former Texas Rangers Association; FISD Future Business Leaders of America Advisory Board; Sons of the Republic of Texas; Alamo Defender Descendants Association; First United Methodist Church, Mason.

San Saba County - District 6

JAMES LOW, DISTRICT 6 CANDIDATE

College attended: Southwest Texas State University.


Occupation: Retired teacher, rancher. Previous employment: Teacher for Cherokee Independent School District.


Past membership and offices held in organizations: Texas Six-Man Coaches Association, board of directors.


Current membership and offices held in organizations: Cherokee Baptist Church, deacon.

 

 

The 2020 Annual Meeting is currently scheduled for August 18th at the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium. 

As the CTEC Board and staff monitor recommendations in relation to COVID-19, the annual meeting is subject to change.
