The Government-in-Action Youth Tour sends high school students from all over the U.S. on a fun and educational trip to Washington D.C. through a nationwide program sponsored by electric cooperatives.
This unique trip gives students the opportunity to experience the history they have learned in textbooks as they explore museums, memorials and monuments. Participants will also have a chance to meet their U.S. Representatives and Senators and make life-long friendships with high school students from across the United States.
Those selected not only have an amazing addition to their college resume but are eligible for special scholarship opportunities.
CTEC is proud to follow the call to serve by sponsoring three high school students from our service area to participate in the tour.
Past participants have described this experience as a trip-of-a-lifetime or an experience I will never forget but one sentiment that is expressed each and every year is their amazement at the friends and bonds they make.
Participation is open to high school students who have completed their sophomore year by May 2020. Students whose parents or guardians are members of CTEC are eligible. The CTEC electric account must be in the name of the parent or guardian. All expenses for the tour (except personal items such as souvenirs, etc.) are paid by the co-op.
