The Operation Round-Up Board of Directors at Central Texas Electric Cooperative recently approved a $2,000 grant to the Zonta Club of Fredericksburg to support their efforts to launch a powerful literacy program for children in Gillespie County.
The Zonta Club is a local service organization committed to empowering women and children through advocacy and community outreach and is bringing the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to the region. This beloved program provides high-quality, age-appropriate books to children—one each month—delivered directly to their homes at no cost to the families.
The goal is simple yet impactful: spark a love for reading, encourage early literacy and ensure every child has access to books regardless of their family’s income. Dolly Parton’s vision was that children everywhere could experience the magic of books, and thanks to the Zonta Club’s leadership and this grant from Operation Round-Up, Gillespie County children will
soon share in that magic.
The grant is possible because of CTEC members who voluntarily participate in the Operation Round-Up program, which rounds up their monthly electric bills to the next whole dollar. These small contributions add up to make a big difference for neighbors in need—and in this case, for the next generation of readers.
CTEC members can sign up for Operation Round-Up online here or by calling their local office. One-time, tax-deductible contributions are also accepted. It’s a simple and affordable way to be part of something bigger through your co-op membership.
