For decades, Central Texas Electric Cooperative members have grown accustomed to spotting our line crews out in the field by one unmistakable sign — their blue shirts. Whether restoring power after a storm, setting poles along a country road, or making routine service calls throughout our communities, “the crew in blue” has been a familiar and trusted sight across the Hill Country.
Starting October 20, 2025, that familiar blue will give way to a new look. Our outside crews — including linemen, staking and engineering technicians, meter technicians, and other field personnel — will now be wearing khaki shirts and jeans.
The new uniforms provide the same comfort and durability our crews need for the job, while offering a consistent, updated appearance across all districts. Some of the shirts are flame-resistant (FR) for employees working in higher-risk environments, while others are standard khaki. You’ll also notice matching khaki caps replacing the longtime blue ones.
While the uniforms may have changed, the people wearing them — and the pride they take in serving our members — haven’t. Our crews remain as dedicated as ever to maintaining reliable electric service and responding quickly whenever duty calls.
So, if you see a CTEC truck roll by and notice khaki instead of blue, don’t worry — it’s still your same local crew, just with a new look.
